ZIP Campus Privacy Notice
Who we are
ZIP Campus, LLC ("ZIP," "we," "our," "us") runs a peer-to-peer marketplace that lets verified students arrange rides with other students (the "ZIP Platform").
Scope
This Notice explains how we collect, use, disclose, and store personal information when you:
- create or use a ZIP account (Driver or Rider);
- visit our websites or apps;
- communicate with us by email, phone, social, or in-app chat.
It does not apply to information a Driver independently collects from you outside the Platform (for example, after the ride, you and the driver swap personal phone numbers in the parking lot to arrange future lifts paid in cash).
What we collect

We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information, email support@zipcampus.com and we'll delete it.
How we use information

When we share information
We share the minimum necessary:
- With other users – A Rider sees a Driver's first name, photo, car details, and location; a Driver sees a Rider's first name, photo (if provided), pick-up, and destination.
- Service providers – cloud hosting, background-check vendors, payment processors. Bound by confidentiality and may use data only as instructed.
- Campus safety or law enforcement – if we reasonably believe it's required to protect someone's safety, prevent fraud, or respond to a valid legal request.
- Business transfers – if ZIP merges, is acquired, or sells assets, data may transfer as part of that deal (we'll give notice).
Data retention
We keep account data while you have an account + 7 years (to comply with audit, tax, and legal requirements). Driver background-check summaries are kept for up to 10 years under North Carolina TNC rules. We delete data when it's no longer needed.
FERPA / student records note
ZIP is not an education institution and is not directly subject to FERPA. If a campus opts to share limited directory information with us (e.g., to verify enrollment), that disclosure is made under the school's FERPA policy. ZIP uses such data solely for eligibility verification and never for advertising.
International users
The ZIP Platform is intended for U.S. colleges. If you access it from abroad, you consent to transferring your information to the United States, where privacy laws may be less strict than those in your country.
Changes
We'll post any updates here and, if changes are material, notify you by email or in-app banner 30 days before they take effect.
